Aga Khan Garden Alberta. In October 2018 Rachel Notley along with the Aga Khan University of Alberta and Lt-Governor of Alberta Lois Mitchell announced an extravagant project that had been recently completed The project is called the Garden of Life and its purpose is to continue to inject Islam into the fabric of Canada. The Aga Khan Garden was made possible by a contribution in excess of 25 million by His Highness the Aga Khan Chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network AKDN and spiritual leader of the Ismaili Muslim community.
Aga Khan Garden Alberta. The University of Alberta Botanical Gardens formerly the Devonian Botanical Gardens just outside Edmonton near Devon was presented with a 25M gift to build the Aga Khan Garden. As the worlds northernmost Islamic garden it interprets the conceptual and physical manifestations of traditional design principles within the context of Alberta climate ecology and culture.
The garden of Islamic tradition is also a place where the flow of refreshing water reminds us of divine blessing.
The Aga Khan Garden is a gift to the University of Alberta from His Highness the Aga Khan. The Aga Khan Garden Alberta was made possible by a gift of more than 25 million by His Highness the Aga Khan the spiritual leader of the Ismaili Muslim community. The gift of an Islamic garden was first announced by Mawlana Hazar Imam during his address at a University of Alberta convocation in June 2009. 2011 - 2018 A spectacular new garden is blooming at the University of Alberta Botanic Garden near Edmonton.
